The United States has launched airstrikes against Iran's Revolutionary Guard in retaliation for the killing of two American service members in Jordan, marking a significant escalation in the regional conflict.

The attacks, part of a weeklong campaign, target Iran's military infrastructure, including coastal surveillance facilities and missile storage sites, aiming to degrade its ability to control the Strait of Hormuz.Iran has responded by striking Kuwait's power and desalination plants, threatening daily life in the oil-rich nation.

Tensions have also intensified with Iran threatening to expand strikes into the UAE, prompting a warning from the UAE's foreign ministry against targeting civilian infrastructure.

The conflict, which began with Iran's attack on a Jordanian base, has resulted in 16 US casualties and over 430 injuries, while Iran reports 50 deaths and 500 wounded from US strikes.The UAE and Saudi Arabia have previously retaliated against Iranian attacks, with the Gulf Co-operation Council accusing Iran of war crimes.

The US continues to impose a naval blockade on Iranian ports and redirect ships to disrupt Tehran's control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil trade.
