US Mission in Pakistan commemorates America’s 250th anniversary and highlights enduring US-Pakistan partnership

The United States Mission in Pakistan hosted a major Freedom 250 celebration in Islamabad to mark 250 years of American democracy and freedom.The event formed part of a year-long international programme leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence.

A wide range of guests attended the gathering, including Pakistani government officials, business leaders, academics, civil society representatives and cultural personalities, reflecting the broad scope of relations between Pakistan and the United States.

During the ceremony, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker delivered the keynote address, highlighting the long-standing friendship between the people of both countries and the shared values of liberty, democracy and cooperation.

She noted that the event celebrated not only America’s history but also nearly eight decades of engagement and partnership between Pakistan and the United States.Baker expressed optimism about future cooperation and emphasised that both countries could continue building stronger ties in the years ahead.

The programme included formal presentations by the US Marine Corps Colour Guard, performances of the national anthems of Pakistan and the United States, and musical performances by the US Air Force Central Command Band and Pakistani singer Bilal Saeed.The celebrations concluded with a fireworks display in Islamabad, symbolising both the anniversary and the future of bilateral relations.According to the report, Freedom 250 is being observed globally through events organised by US embassies and consulates.

The initiative commemorates the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence and promotes the themes of freedom, democratic values and international partnership.
