US President Donald Trump has written to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his decisive leadership in combating terrorism and addressing security challenges in Nigeria.

The letter, disclosed by Tinubu's Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, praises Tinubu's resolve to tackle violence against Christian communities and strengthens the US-Nigeria partnership.

Both leaders have been collaborating closely through a Joint Working Group established last year, which has led to joint operations like the May 16 attack on ISIS hideouts in Lake Chad, resulting in the death of ISIS leader Abubakar Al-Minoki.

Trump highlighted the importance of their alliance in countering terrorism across West Africa and globally, emphasizing the 2026 Defence Cooperation Roadmap.The US has also deployed elite Special Operations Forces to support Nigeria's military efforts.This collaboration underscores shared goals in enhancing security and protecting citizens from terrorist threats.
