A shopkeeper in Utawala, Mihango, Nairobi has shared CCTV footage showing an unusual encounter with a man who claimed he had just been released from prison after serving seven years for a murder conviction.

According to the shopkeeper, the man entered the business premises like any other customer before revealing that he had originally planned to rob the shop.He, however, said he changed his mind after observing the shopkeeper and concluding that he was a good person who did not deserve to be harmed.

During the conversation, the visitor claimed he was armed and said that although he had the ability to steal the shopkeeper's phone or use violence, he had decided against it.He also spoke about the challenges he was facing after leaving prison, including lacking food, money and a place to stay.Even so, he insisted he would not target someone he considered kind.Before leaving, the man warned the shopkeeper not to disclose details of their conversation, suggesting there could be consequences if he did.He also expressed a desire to remain in contact and stated that he intended to return to the shop on Saturday.The incident left the shopkeeper shaken but unharmed.

The CCTV footage has since drawn attention online, with many Kenyans discussing the man's behaviour, his claims about rehabilitation, and the safety concerns raised by the encounter.The report is based on the shopkeeper's account and the recorded footage shared after the incident.
