Sixty vocational training graduates from the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) in Lindi Region have committed to using their newly acquired skills to foster peace, create jobs, and enhance community development.

The graduates completed training under the Dumisha Amani project, a joint initiative between VETA, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Global Peace Foundation (GPF), and local organizations.

The program focused on practical skills like batik production, CCTV installation, irrigation systems, and food processing to tackle unemployment and empower youth.

During the graduation ceremony, tailoring graduate Ms Martha Mchewa highlighted how the training transformed participants' attitudes towards employment by encouraging self-reliance and entrepreneurship.She emphasized plans to share knowledge, form business groups, and access council loans to expand enterprises.

Mr Jabiri Hamisi, trained in CCTV installation and irrigation systems, pledged to establish service groups supporting public and private sectors while creating youth employment.

Lindi District Commissioner Ms Victoria Mwanziva urged graduates to become peace ambassadors, leveraging their skills to improve livelihoods and strengthen communities.

VETA Lindi Principal Mr Harry Mmari noted the 60 trainees—22 men and 38 women—would champion peaceful coexistence while advancing economic well-being through vocational expertise.
