Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), confirmed during an appearance on Channels Television that party presidential candidate Peter Obi signed a formal written agreement committing to a single four-year term if elected president in the 2027 general election.

The agreement, which was documented separately by both leaders, is part of the NDC's strategy to strengthen opposition unity ahead of the 2027 presidential election.Kwankwaso emphasized that the pact was not based on trust alone but was a formalized commitment to ensure political stability.

The announcement comes amid public debate over reports that Obi had agreed to a one-term arrangement to bolster the opposition's chances of defeating President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).Kwankwaso also addressed concerns about voter motivation, asserting that supporters are driven by conviction rather than financial incentives.He declined to confirm his intentions for the 2031 election, stating the party's focus remains on the 2027 race.
