Volkswagen has launched the all-new ID.Cross, an electric compact SUV designed as an alternative to the T-Cross.Built on the MEB+ platform, the vehicle measures 4,153mm in length with a 2,601mm wheelbase, offering a roomier cabin compared to its petrol-powered counterpart.The ID.Cross seats five passengers and provides a 475l boot capacity, enhanced by an additional storage compartment beneath the boot floor.

It features a 260mm Digital Cockpit Pro dashboard and a 327mm infotainment touchscreen, with a retro display mode replicating the original Golf's analogue layout.The vehicle includes advanced driver assistance systems, such as traffic light recognition and automated parking via Park Assist Pro.Power options range from 85kW to 155kW, with battery capacities of 37kWh and 52kWh, supporting 11kW AC charging and 90kW DC fast-charging.Pricing starts at €27,995 (R583,000) for the base model, with higher trims offering features like adaptive cruise control and IQ.Light LED headlights.The ID.Cross also supports vehicle-to-load charging, allowing external devices to draw power via the charging port.While European markets have opened order books, the South African launch remains unconfirmed.
