Western Kenya Leaders Encourage Edwin Sifuna to Take Prominent Leadership Role Ahead of 2027 Elections

During the burial of Mzee Patrick Wangamati in Kabuchai, leaders from across Western Kenya turned the occasion into a major political gathering.The event saw calls for unity and fresh leadership within the Mulembe Nation, with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna being urged to take a bigger role.

Governors and senators, including George Natembeya and Boni Khalwale, publicly supported Sifuna, emphasising the need for a united political front in the region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The ceremony also exposed political tensions, particularly with Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa allegedly trying to disrupt proceedings by mobilising mourners and distributing money.Despite this, Sifuna managed to maintain order and stressed the importance of focusing on development and unity.

Leaders highlighted the need to engage Kenya’s young generation and suggested that the region could consider fronting its own presidential candidate in future.Governor Natembeya warned against jealousy among some politicians who attempt to undermine emerging figures.

Overall, the burial turned into a significant platform for political dialogue, demonstrating Western Kenya's aspirations for stronger political representation and cohesion.
