National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula is leading efforts to boost voter registration in Western Kenya ahead of the 2027 general election.President William Ruto has emphasized the region's critical role in his re-election bid, noting that nearly 1.5 million eligible voters remain unregistered.

Wetang'ula, alongside Cabinet Secretaries Musalia Mudavadi and Wycliffe Oparanya, is mobilizing communities to secure national IDs and voter cards.

During a boda boda forum in Budalang'i, he highlighted the lack of IDs among residents and urged leaders to guide people through the registration process.

Allies are also pushing Ruto to choose a Western Kenya running mate to strengthen regional loyalty, especially after the Ol Kalou by-election exposed vulnerabilities in Mt Kenya's support.The campaign underscores the region's potential to determine the 2027 outcome and secure future political alliances.
