Switzerland defeat Algeria 2–0 to reach World Cup round of 16
The B.C.Lions are heading into their Week 4 CFL matchup still searching for their first win of the season as they prepare to face the unbeaten Edmonton Elks in Kelowna, British Columbia.
The Lions enter the game with an 0-3 record, with head coach and offensive coordinator Buck Pierce pointing to self-inflicted errors and inconsistent execution as key reasons for their slow start.
In their most recent loss, a 41-33 defeat to the Calgary Stampeders, critical mistakes such as a fumble on a kickoff return and a 90-yard punt return allowed Calgary to build and extend its lead.
Despite strong offensive production, including an average of 447 net yards per game and standout quarterback play from Nathan Rourke, the Lions have struggled to convert performance into wins.Rourke has already thrown for over 1,000 yards this season but has been hindered by poor field position, with B.C.consistently starting drives deeper in their own territory than any other CFL team.Their defence has also been a major concern, allowing a league-high 37.7 points per game while recording very few sacks and no turnovers so far this season. The matchup will take place at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna due to scheduling conflicts at BC Place linked to FIFA World Cup preparations.Meanwhile, Edmonton arrives with momentum, holding a 3-0 record built on late-game resilience and a defence allowing the fewest points in the league.Quarterback Cody Fajardo has helped guide the Elks through several close victories.Injuries and staff changes have added to B.C.’s challenges, including adjustments on special teams following a coaching change.
However, the Lions maintain confidence, noting their historical success against Edmonton and believing their underlying performance can translate into a turnaround if errors are reduced.
