A 25-year-old Winnipeg man was arrested by Manitoba RCMP after waving a replica BB handgun through his vehicle's sunroof while driving on the Trans-Canada Highway.Police received a report of an erratic driver around 11:50 a.m.on Tuesday, east of Portage la Prairie.The suspect, identified as a 25-year-old male, was pulled over approximately 20 minutes later and arrested without incident.During the stop, officers discovered and seized the airsoft replica BB handgun from his vehicle.The man faces multiple charges including two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of pointing a firearm, and possession of a dangerous weapon.He was released on conditional release with a court date scheduled for September.The incident highlights concerns about public safety and the potential risks posed by imitation firearms in traffic scenarios.Authorities emphasized that while the weapon was not real, the act of displaying it through a sunroof could have caused panic or harm.This case underscores the importance of legal consequences for actions that endanger others, even with non-lethal weapons.
