Women in Technology and Innovation Africa (WITIA) has launched the Mbukoni Smart Library at Mbukoni Comprehensive School in Machakos, marking a significant step in bridging Kenya's digital divide.

This initiative, part of the Smart Libraries for a Smart Nation project, provides students and teachers with modern facilities including computers, high-speed internet, digital learning platforms, and curriculum-aligned resources. The library, designed to be inclusive, features wheelchair-accessible ramps and barrier-free access for people with disabilities.WITIA also upgraded classrooms, built a contemporary ablution block, and donated over 2,300 books to enhance literacy.

The launch was attended by key officials like Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos and ICT Principal Secretary John Tanui, highlighting the government's support for technology-driven education. This follows the success of the first WITIA Smart Library in Kajiado, which has become a model for digital inclusion.

The initiative aims to ensure equitable access to quality education in underserved communities, aligning with Kenya's broader goals for technological advancement and educational reform.
