Yobe State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug baron and kidnapping kingpin as part of their crackdown on drug trafficking and violent crimes.

In a raid on 17 July 2026, officers from Yindiski Divisional Police Headquarters in Potiskum seized large quantities of illicit drugs, including Tramadol and Exzol tablets, along with ₦835,500 in suspected drug proceeds.

The operation faced violent resistance from syndicate members trying to free the suspect, resulting in minor injuries to officers and damage to a police vehicle.The arrested suspect, Alhaji Abbas, is cooperating with investigators to track down other members.

Separately, Saidu Mohammed, a kidnapping kingpin linked to Bauchi, Yobe, and Gombe states, was arrested after a victim reported a threatening call demanding ₦10m.Police commend the officers for their professionalism and reaffirm their commitment to public safety.
