The Zanzibar Fan Zone campaign concluded with a major event at Kisonge, where thousands of football fans gathered to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.

Organized by digital financial services provider Mixx in partnership with Electronics Hub Zanzibar, the event attracted government officials, private sector stakeholders, and football enthusiasts.

The Mayor of Zanzibar Municipality, Ibrahim Mohamed (Raza Lee), praised the initiative for fostering social cohesion and creating economic opportunities.He highlighted how such events position Zanzibar as a leading destination for sports and entertainment.Mixx Zanzibar Manager Salum Nassor Mohamed emphasized the company's commitment to community-centred events beyond financial services.

Electronics Hub CEO Naif Skandar Ibrahim noted this was the first time Zanzibar hosted a fan zone of this scale, showcasing private sector collaboration.

Attendees enjoyed live match screenings, prize draws with televisions and refrigerators, and a vibrant atmosphere that celebrated the World Cup final without leaving Zanzibar.The event underscored Zanzibar's growing role in hosting major international sports events.
