Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi emphasized the need for sustained investment in leadership development, robust healthcare systems, and youth empowerment programs to honor former President Benjamin William Mkapa's legacy.

His remarks were delivered at the Fourth Benjamin William Mkapa Legacy Forum in Dar es Salaam, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Mkapa Foundation.

The foundation, established two decades ago, has been pivotal in transforming Tanzania's health sector through initiatives like strengthening healthcare delivery, professional development for medical workers, and improving primary care access.

Mwinyi highlighted the importance of commemorating Mkapa’s contributions not just through reflection but by advancing policies that enhance healthcare infrastructure and youth opportunities.

The event also featured awards recognizing Mwinyi’s dedication to the foundation and a leadership award presented to Vice President Dr Emmanuel John Nchimbi.

These efforts align with national goals for universal health coverage and reflect broader commitments to sustainable development and honoring Mkapa's vision for Tanzania's future.
