Zanzibar’s tourism sector is growing rapidly, with 69,605 visitors arriving in June 2026, a 3.1% increase from June 2025.This marks a significant 73.4% monthly jump compared to May 2026’s 40,151 arrivals, signaling strong recovery during peak season.Europe remains the largest source market, contributing 61.9% of visitors, followed by Africa (19.3%), Asia (9.5%), the Americas (7.8%), and Oceania (1.5%).Air travel dominates, accounting for 90.1% of arrivals, while leisure tourism makes up 99.2% of visits.Dr.Stela Ngoma attributes the growth to improved infrastructure and transport links, which enhance accessibility and tourist confidence.Health services also ensured safety, with minor health issues reported but fully resolved.Stakeholders expect continued economic benefits from tourism, reinforcing its role in Zanzibar’s economy.
