A 21-year-old man, D.Dinesh Reddy, has been arrested by Karimnagar rural police for allegedly pushing a 55-year-old woman labourer into a well after robbing her of her gold mangalsutra and earrings.The incident occurred in Nustulapur on July 1, 2026, when the accused lured the woman under the pretense of offering farm work.He allegedly snatched her valuables and pushed her into the well, attempting to kill her.The woman survived by clinging to a rope tied to motor pipes before being rescued by local farmers the next morning.Police suspect Reddy, a second-year degree student from Gollapalli village, was driven by debt from online gambling and betting losses.The case has sparked widespread concern in the district, highlighting the dangers of financial desperation leading to violent crimes.Authorities are investigating the motive further and have initiated legal proceedings against the accused.This incident underscores the need for stricter regulations on online gambling and support systems for individuals facing financial distress.
