APC Leaders Unite to Resolve Oyo State Crisis Ahead of 2027 Elections
The African Democratic Party (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of deliberately holding former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in custody until after the 2027 elections.
ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi claimed during a Channels Television interview that the APC government is using legal loopholes to prevent El-Rufai's release, as they fear his freedom would strengthen the opposition.
Abdullahi emphasized that El-Rufai's detention for bailable offences is politically motivated, with the APC aiming to suppress dissent by keeping him imprisoned. He also raised concerns about El-Rufai's health, noting that the National Hospital advised him to be under watch due to failing health.
Abdullahi warned that President Bola Tinubu would be held personally responsible if anything happens to El-Rufai in custody, stating that the buck stops on the table.
The ADC claims the APC is orchestrating cases against them to limit Nigerians' choices in the 2027 elections, framing El-Rufai's detention as a political strategy to maintain power.
This accusation highlights deepening tensions between opposition parties and the ruling APC, with implications for Nigeria's political landscape ahead of the upcoming elections.
