After a commanding 45-14 victory over Munster in Pretoria, Bulls head coach Johan Ackermann cautioned that his side will need to raise their standards significantly if they are to overcome Glasgow Warriors in next weekend’s United Rugby Championship semifinal.

Despite the convincing scoreline at Loftus Versfeld, Ackermann was unhappy with the number of errors his team made, warning that a more clinical Glasgow side would punish similar mistakes.

He highlighted that the Scottish outfit are an all-round attacking team with high skill levels, stressing the importance of discipline and accuracy in the knockout match.

A key concern for the Bulls was their defensive lapses, particularly around the set piece and phase play, where Munster were able to create line breaks and generate momentum.

Ackermann noted that Glasgow pose a similar threat in these areas, especially from structured play such as scrums and launching phases, meaning the Bulls must tighten up their systems.

Munster coach Clayton McMillan also praised the Bulls’ forward pack, singling out their dominant scrum and effective maul as potential weapons against Glasgow.

He also pointed to the Bulls’ ability to capitalise on broken play, with their backs showing creativity and strong offloading skills when space opened up.

In team news, the Bulls are set to be without winger Sergeal Petersen, who has suffered a serious shoulder injury, while there is cautious optimism that Cheswill Jooste could return in time.
