The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has categorically denied claims that a group uploaded fake names to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, calling the allegation a deliberate attempt to confuse voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party accused unnamed individuals of trying to mislead Nigerians and urged those behind the claim to provide credible evidence.

The ADC stressed that only officially recognized leadership has access to INEC’s nomination portal and that the Commission does not issue duplicate codes to the same party.

They emphasized that their presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, had already successfully uploaded their names to the portal.

The party also formally petitioned INEC to investigate the alleged forgery of documents purportedly issued by the electoral body, warning that such actions could harm public trust in Nigeria’s electoral process. The ADC reiterated that there is no leadership crisis within the party and that its nomination process adheres to legal guidelines. They urged the public to disregard misinformation and rely solely on official communications.
