Airbus is transitioning 70 critical applications from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to the French cloud provider Scaleway as part of its digital sovereignty initiative.

The move aims to keep sensitive data under European control, with plans to eventually migrate 900 applications, including ERP, CRM, and manufacturing systems.Airbus will continue using U.S.providers for non-sensitive workloads, balancing criticality with technical and commercial factors.

Catherine Jestin, Airbus' digital head, highlighted Scaleway's technical and commercial strengths, as well as its commitment to co-defining future product roadmaps.

The decision addresses concerns about data security amid geopolitical tensions, ensuring critical data assets remain protected from foreign legal jurisdictions.Airbus emphasized that this strategy supports its aerospace innovation while maintaining operational resilience.
