DOJ Declines to Submit Court-Ordered Declaration on Suspended Anti-Weaponization Fund
A legal dispute has emerged over the Department of Justice's handling of records related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.American Oversight, a nonpartisan watchdog organization, filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the DOJ after the agency denied an expedited request for documents connected to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's supervision of the Epstein files review process.
The lawsuit seeks the release of those records by July 14, one day before Blanche is scheduled to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee for confirmation hearings regarding his nomination as attorney general.
According to testimony cited in the article, former Attorney General Pam Bondi told congressional investigators that she delegated oversight of the Epstein files review to Blanche.
The controversy intensified after the DOJ reportedly missed deadlines associated with releasing documents and subsequently published files that exposed the names of numerous Epstein survivors while withholding the names of certain men referenced in the records.Attorneys representing survivors criticized the release, describing it as a major breach of victim privacy.
A review by The Wall Street Journal reportedly found that at least 43 victims' names were left unredacted, including more than two dozen individuals who were minors at the time of the alleged abuse.
Democratic Representative Ro Khanna publicly questioned the DOJ's redaction decisions and suggested that additional names may have been concealed.Blanche has acknowledged that the department failed in its handling of the file release.
The article also notes that 19 Epstein survivors have opposed Blanche's nomination, arguing that his management of the matter demonstrates poor judgment and accountability.

DOJ messin' w/ Epstein files & now this? Blanche's confirmation hearings are gonna be a circus. No accountability, just more obfuscation. Victims deserve better. Total fail. Gotta keep pressuring them.

Typical liberal media sensationalism, right? They're trying to torpedo this guy before he even gets confirmed. Seems like a political hit job, plain and simple. Blanche probably just inherited a mess, and now he's being crucified. The DOJ always gets blamed for everything. Let's see if this lawsuit even holds up.

Blanche? The guy who messed up the Epstein files is up for AG? This whole thing reeks of a cover-up. DOJ's gotta get its act together, and Congress needs to grill him properly. What a mess.
