Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke separately with the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir to review the situation arising from heavy rainfall affecting these regions.

During the conversations, he assured each state of full support from the Central Government in managing the rain-related challenges and responding to emergencies.The discussions came as several parts of western and northern India continued to face disruption due to intense monsoon activity.

In Maharashtra, Mumbai witnessed torrential rain that affected daily life, causing delays in suburban train services, waterlogging and inconvenience to commuters.

Rail connectivity towards Gujarat also remained affected because of flooding on important sections of the railway network, while landslides continued to disrupt services on the Mumbai–Pune route.

In Gujarat, extremely heavy rainfall impacted several districts, particularly Surat, leading to flood-like conditions, evacuation of thousands of residents to safer locations and multiple rain-related fatalities.Educational institutions in some affected districts remained closed as authorities monitored the situation closely.Meanwhile, Jammu & Kashmir experienced flash floods in parts of Doda district following heavy rainfall in the upper reaches.The flooding damaged houses, shops and vehicles, while debris blocked roads, including stretches of the Doda–Kishtwar highway, affecting movement.

The Home Minister assured the state governments that the Centre would extend all possible assistance for relief, rescue and restoration efforts as authorities continued to monitor weather conditions and respond to the impact of the ongoing monsoon.
