Florida International University bans GOP students over racist and violent group chat messages
A recent analysis by The College Fix has revealed that at top-ranked U.S.universities, Democratic or Democratic-leaning speakers significantly outnumber Republican speakers at commencement ceremonies. The study examined public statements and donation records to identify political affiliations among speakers at main or undergraduate ceremonies.Out of the total partisan speakers identified, 86% were Democrats.
Notable Republican speakers included Arthur Brooks at Vanderbilt University, Dario Gil at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and former NFL player Colt McCoy at the University of Texas at Austin.
In contrast, Democratic speakers included governors such as Gretchen Whitmer at Michigan State University and Abigail Spanberger at Virginia Tech, entertainers like Sarah Jessica Parker at Northwestern University, and authors including James Patterson at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The report highlights that conservative speakers on campuses often face hostility, with some canceling appearances due to safety concerns or perceived political bias. For example, Republican Lt.Gov.Pamela Evette stated that South Carolina State University rescinded her invitation because of her support for former President Donald Trump.
The findings point to a clear trend in political representation among college commencement speakers, reflecting broader discussions about ideological balance in higher education.
