Adv Andrea Johnson, head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (Idac), testified at the Madlanga commission of inquiry, countering allegations that her office targeted police crime intelligence head Lt-Gen Dumisani Khumalo to delay investigations into serious organised crime.

Johnson denied claims that Khumalo was arrested due to his leadership role in the political killings task team (PKTT), stating the suggestion was 'as false as it is unfortunate'.

She clarified that her office was unaware of Khumalo's involvement in the PKTT when probing his corruption case, asserting the investigation was not aimed at delaying the PKTT's work.Johnson also rejected accusations that Idac acted outside its mandate by investigating top cops in crime intelligence.

She invoked her constitutional right to avoid self-incriminating evidence regarding allegations of disclosing a criminal docket to Maj-Gen Feroz Khan.
