Andrew Keegan says acting residual payments from his past television and film roles are often very small

Actor Andrew Keegan, best known for playing Joey Donner in the 1999 teen film 10 Things I Hate About You, has spoken openly about the unpredictable and often minimal residual payments he still receives from his earlier acting work.

During an appearance on The McBride Rewind podcast, the 47-year-old explained that some of the cheques sent to him are worth as little as one cent, joking that the postage costs more than the payment itself.

He added that the largest residual income he still receives comes from 10 Things I Hate About You, while other projects occasionally generate payments ranging from around 10 to 80 dollars.

Keegan rose to fame during the 1990s through roles in films and television series including Camp Nowhere, Party of Five, 7th Heaven and Independence Day.

The article also revisits aspects of his personal life, including past relationships with celebrities such as Jennifer Love Hewitt, LeAnn Rimes, Piper Perabo and Elisha Cuthbert. He is also the father of a daughter, Aiya Rose.

The report further discusses Keegan’s response to long-standing claims that he led a cult-like spiritual group in Los Angeles called Full Circle, which operated between 2014 and 2017.Keegan denied that the organisation was a cult and said the group mainly focused on meditation, sound healing and wellness activities. He argued that many of the practices criticised at the time have since become more socially accepted.

Keegan said he accepts responsibility for placing himself in a controversial situation but maintains that the portrayal of the group in the media was exaggerated.
