Apple Music has announced immediate price increases for its subscription plans across the UK, Europe, and the US, attributing the changes to rising licensing costs.The individual plan in the UK will rise from £10.99 to £11.99 per month, while the family plan will increase from £16.99 to £19.99.In Europe, similar adjustments apply, with the student plan also seeing a rise to €6.99.In the US, the individual and family plans will increase by $1, while the student plan will rise by $1.These changes mark Apple Music's first price hike since October 2022.The decision comes amid broader industry trends, as Spotify raised prices in 2025 and Deezer demonetised AI-generated content.

Apple also introduced new features to flag AI-created music, following a study showing most users cannot distinguish between real and AI-generated tracks.The move highlights ongoing challenges for streaming platforms balancing costs, content licensing, and user retention.
