The BBC Introducing Stage, a platform for emerging artists at the Reading & Leeds Festival, is being removed after 18 years as part of a major overhaul.

The decision follows a significant expansion of the festival's infrastructure, with both venues now featuring up to six stages, including The Grid, The Gallery, and The Warehouse.Festival Republic, the organisers, stated their focus remains on supporting new talent, with the Canopy stage designated for up-and-coming acts.

While the BBC Introducing Stage has historically launched careers for artists like Ed Sheeran and The 1975, the move reflects a shift towards modernising the event.The festival is set to become a four-day event, with performances starting on Thursday, marking the beginning of 'Reading & Leeds 2.0'.Despite the removal of the BBC stage, the BBC confirmed it will continue to host similar initiatives at other UK festivals.
