Atiku accuses Tinubu government of rising poverty and insecurity, pledges policy blueprint

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the African Democratic Congress, criticized the Tinubu-led administration for worsening hunger, poverty, and insecurity in Nigeria.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku argued that three years into Tinubu’s presidency, Nigerians face higher food prices, unemployment, and reduced purchasing power.He described inflation as a “cruel tax on the poor” and claimed that many Nigerians must work harder yet become poorer.

On security, Atiku highlighted kidnappings and attacks, citing incidents in Borno and Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State to illustrate the growing fear among citizens.

He urged Nigerians to use democratic processes to demand accountability and promised that the ADC would unveil a policy blueprint addressing economic recovery, job creation, education, healthcare, and reforms in public institutions.

Tinubu, in a separate statement marking three years in office, emphasized ongoing security investments and efforts by security agencies to quell criminal networks, while acknowledging persistent challenges.He asserted commitment to safety and vowed continued action until Nigerians can live, work, and travel without fear.
