Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has demanded a comprehensive forensic review of Nigeria's 2026 budget after revelations of over ₦210 billion in duplicated allocations.

In a statement, his team criticized the Tinubu administration for fiscal recklessness, linking the budget irregularities to declining living standards, rising unemployment, and economic instability.Atiku highlighted the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation's audited 2024 financials, which showed ₦7.13 trillion spent on energy security expenses despite claims of subsidy removal.

He urged the Auditor-General, anti-corruption agencies, and civil society to investigate the budget, recover misappropriated funds, and ensure accountability.

The ADC leader pledged to restore public finance credibility through transparent budgeting and strict accountability measures, warning against leaders who prioritize personal gain over national welfare.
