A 42-year-old Bangladeshi national, Sahed Ahmed, was arrested in Assam's Hailakandi district for illegally entering India to meet his wife and daughter.Police revealed that Ahmed, from Bangladesh's Sylhet district, married an Indian national in Meghalaya eight years ago.His wife and daughter have been residing in Hailakandi for two and a half years.Ahmed was detained on July 5 after entering India through an unauthorized route in Sribhumi district.Authorities are investigating the border crossing method, the purpose of his visit, and potential accomplices.The police noted that Ahmed's wife retained her Indian citizenship and returned to Hailakandi with their daughter.Ahmed claimed intentions to take his family to Bangladesh, but legal action will follow based on investigation findings.The case also involves probing whether others facilitated his illegal movement.This incident highlights ongoing challenges with cross-border immigration and legal enforcement in the region.
