The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has retrieved deleted CCTV footage from Central Police Station linked to the death of Albert Ojwang, who died in custody in 2025.The footage, dated June 7, 2025, shows a police officer interacting with two unidentified men before they enter a holding cell.The video was presented in court as part of the inquest into Ojwang's death, which sparked public outrage over police accountability.

A digital forensics expert testified that the CCTV system was tampered with, as internal components were removed from the DVR before IPOA documented the device.

The footage captures movements in the station, including the two men entering and exiting cells, and a group of five people running to the last cell with an object.Authorities are now seeking to identify the two men seen with the officer.The case highlights concerns about police conduct and the integrity of evidence in Kenya's legal system.
