Anthropic Confidentially Files for IPO as AI Company Race for Public Markets Intensifies
A recent demonstration of GigaAI’s humanoid robot, SeeLight S1, has drawn attention after the machine performed a series of household tasks with mixed and often unimpressive results.
In a promotional video, the robot navigates an apartment using a wheeled base and carries out activities such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and organizing items. One of the most discussed moments shows the robot attempting to prepare scrambled eggs with tomatoes.
Although it successfully handles basic steps like cracking and whisking eggs, the final dish appears overcooked and poorly prepared, highlighting limitations in its culinary precision.
The video also shows the robot slicing tomatoes into uneven pieces and performing other kitchen tasks in a mechanical and inefficient manner, with some segments apparently sped up, making it difficult to assess real execution time.
Beyond cooking, SeeLight S1 is shown interacting with laundry in a confusing sequence where it appears to move items between machines in an inconsistent way.
It also performs basic home assistance tasks, such as fetching items for a family, though some actions, like placing a hat on its head, appear staged or impractical.
The robot, which is expected to enter home trials in China by 2027, is part of broader efforts to develop domestic humanoid assistants, particularly in response to aging populations and labor shortages.
While currently limited in capability and efficiency, its developers aim to improve performance and reduce cost over time, positioning it as a potential long-term solution for home care and household support.
