Senior Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, staged a surprise sit-in protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in New Delhi over the alleged NEET paper leak.The demonstration came despite the Union government agreeing to hold a discussion on the issue in Parliament.

Rahul Gandhi continued to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, arguing that accountability was necessary in addition to a parliamentary debate.Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav also joined the protest in support of the Congress leadership.Police intervened after the protest took place near a high-security zone, forcibly removing the demonstrators and detaining several leaders.

Rahul Gandhi was taken to Chhatrasal Stadium, while Priyanka Gandhi was taken to Mandir Marg Police Station before both were later released along with other detained protesters.

According to the police, organisers allegedly used the pretext of an elderly leader's birthday celebration at a nearby government bungalow to gather participants before moving towards the Prime Minister's residence.

The BJP strongly criticised Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of creating unnecessary confrontation and describing his conduct as inappropriate for the Leader of the Opposition.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that the government had already accepted the demand for a parliamentary discussion and alleged that the call for the education minister's resignation was introduced later.Congress, however, maintained that the NEET controversy required greater accountability.

The protest also triggered criticism from AAP leaders, who accused the Congress of attempting to politically overshadow the ongoing agitation led by CJP over the same issue.
