Court Issues Arrest Warrant for PFIPC Director Over Court Appearance Failure

The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an arrest warrant for Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), after he failed to appear for his arraignment.

The court ordered his arrest under Section 394 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 following repeated absences from court proceedings.Adeyemi was charged with eight counts of forgery, fraud, and impersonation.

The police lawyer, Wisdom Madaki, argued that the defendant's absence disrupted the trial, which has been adjourned multiple times at his request. The defense lawyer, Genesis Francis, claimed Adeyemi was present for an earlier arraignment on May 16 but faced alleged threats to his life.Justice Muhammed Umar noted that the case, filed on November 27, 2025, had only one court appearance since its initiation on December 4, 2025.The warrant mandates security agencies to arrest Adeyemi and bring him before the court on September 30 for arraignment.

The court emphasized the need for accountability in legal proceedings, highlighting the defendant's failure to comply with court orders despite multiple adjournments. This case underscores the challenges of enforcing judicial mandates in high-profile legal matters.
