Authorities outline reforms and investigation updates following NEET exam leak concerns
A Delhi court on Saturday heard custody and bail matters related to the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak investigation involving three accused persons. The proceedings were conducted before a special CBI judge, who reviewed submissions made by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the alleged conspiracy and role of each accused in the case.
One of the accused, Manisha Mandhare, was sent to 14-day judicial custody after the CBI argued that she needed to be confronted with other accused individuals and students as part of the ongoing investigation. The agency alleged that she was involved in retaining the examination paper and distributing it for monetary gain in collusion with others. In the case of Manisha Sanjay Havaldar, the CBI sought an extension of her custody by two days.
The agency stated that she was empanelled as a physics translator with the National Testing Agency (NTA) and was allegedly involved in the unauthorised retention and distribution of the NEET-UG question paper in conspiracy with others. The court accepted the CBI’s request and extended her custody for further interrogation. The third accused, Manisha Waghmare, had moved a bail application on medical grounds. The court issued a notice to the CBI seeking its response and scheduled the next hearing for June 5.
The case forms part of the larger ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities and leaks in the NEET-UG 2026 examination process, which has triggered multiple arrests and judicial proceedings.
