Ishaq Dar to visit Washington for talks with Marco Rubio on bilateral ties and regional issues
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is scheduled to meet United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington to discuss a range of important bilateral and regional issues, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The meeting will focus on strengthening Pakistan-US relations, reviewing ongoing cooperation in priority sectors, and exchanging views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.A key part of the discussions will be Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Foreign Office has highlighted that Dar’s visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its longstanding and broad-based partnership with the United States.
The talks are taking place at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, particularly following renewed clashes involving the United States and Iran.Recent incidents, including drone strikes and missile interceptions in the Gulf region, have further escalated concerns about regional stability.
Pakistan has reportedly played a mediating role between Washington and Tehran since the outbreak of hostilities earlier this year, facilitating communication and supporting ceasefire efforts.
Islamabad previously helped broker a temporary ceasefire and hosted delegations from both sides for peace talks, although a permanent agreement was not reached.
Despite the lack of a final settlement, Pakistan continues to engage diplomatically by relaying messages between the concerned parties to reduce tensions.Following his engagements in Washington, Deputy Prime Minister Dar is expected to return to Islamabad the same day.
The visit underscores Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic outreach and its attempt to maintain constructive relations with major global partners while contributing to regional peace initiatives.
