David Osiany made a deeply emotional trip to Narok County to console a family who lost their 15-year-old daughter in the tragic Utumishi Girls’ school fire in Gilgil.

He revealed that he felt a strong inner burden that led him to skip his usual Sunday church service and instead travel to meet the bereaved family of Dennis Nyakeri, a tour operator, and his wife Rebecca Maina, a pastor.The couple had gathered with friends and fellow mourners for a home-based church service marked by intense grief and reflection.

Osiany described the atmosphere as heavy with sorrow, confusion, and emotional pain, noting that even words of faith felt insufficient in the face of such loss.He deliberately avoided direct eye contact with the grieving father, saying the man’s visible anguish was overwhelming and deeply affecting.

During the gathering, a fellow mourner recalled the father’s emotional struggle as he questioned how a child could die so young, referencing Psalm 90:10 about human lifespan and breaking down in grief with the painful question of where a 15-year life fits in God’s plan.Osiany said he was moved to tears as he witnessed the raw emotional suffering of the family and others affected by the tragedy.He later spoke to the mourners, stating he came not as a public figure or acquaintance but simply as a fellow human being responding to compassion.He also reflected on the trauma families face when identifying children after such disasters.

The visit ended with prayers for healing, comfort, and strength for all affected families as the community continues to grapple with the devastating school fire that claimed multiple young lives.
