The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) secured a landslide victory in the Ol Kalou by-election, defeating the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate.

The by-election followed the death of MP David Kiaraho, creating a platform for a political showdown between President William Ruto and his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.Deputy President Kithure Kindiki had confidently predicted a repeat of the Mbeere North victory, where UDA triumphed over DCP.However, the DCP candidate, Sammy Kamau, won with 35,440 votes, while UDA's Samuel Muchina trailed with 5,450.Kindiki downplayed the result, emphasizing that the real contest remains in the 2027 general election.The outcome challenges UDA's dominance in Mt Kenya and highlights shifting political dynamics in the region.
