Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced that several innovative ideas emerging from the 'Delhi Next – Code, Create & Change' hackathon will be taken forward for pilot implementation by the government.
The civic-tech initiative is designed to connect young innovators, students, coders, and entrepreneurs with real urban governance challenges faced by the city.
The programme attracted widespread participation, reportedly reaching over one crore young people across India, making it one of the largest platforms of its kind focused on urban problem-solving through technology. From this massive pool of applicants, 60 top teams were shortlisted to present practical and scalable solutions.
These solutions address key urban issues such as traffic congestion, waterlogging, air pollution, waste management, digital governance, and improvement of citizen services.
According to officials, the selected teams showcased technology-driven models and applications aimed at improving public service delivery and making urban systems more efficient and responsive.
CM Rekha Gupta highlighted that the initiative is not just a hackathon but a structured bridge between governance and youth innovation, enabling young minds to directly contribute to public policy solutions.
She also emphasised that collaboration between government departments and innovators will ensure proper testing and scaling of the selected ideas through pilot projects.
The shortlisted participants will receive mentorship, institutional support, and a clear implementation roadmap to test their solutions in real-world conditions.
The initiative reflects a broader shift towards civic-tech-driven governance, where data, digital tools, and citizen engagement play a central role in addressing urban challenges.
The government expects these pilots to help improve infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and support the vision of building a smarter and more efficient Delhi in the future.
