A Democratic political strategist expressed outrage following reports that former New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas was instructed to halt his investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's Zorro Ranch in 2019.

According to Scripps News, Balderas received a call from the Southern District of New York directing him to stand down as federal authorities took over the probe into potential crimes at the property located about 40 miles south of Santa Fe.Mike Nellis, the strategist, described the situation as both disgusting and disturbing during a recent podcast episode.

He highlighted Epstein's alleged roles in human trafficking, child abuse, and blackmail, noting that the government has never conducted a search of the New Mexico ranch.The ranch was later sold to a Republican mega-donor who recently ran for statewide office in Texas.Nellis pointed to the ongoing failure to release all Epstein files despite promises from the Trump administration.

He criticized the administration's handling, including First Lady Melania Trump's denial of being introduced to Donald Trump via Epstein and contentious Capitol Hill hearings.

Nellis emphasized that the directive came during a period when Trump theoretically controlled the Department of Justice, raising concerns about potential corruption or incompetence in the current administration under acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
