DILG mulls reward system as authorities intensify search for Senator Bato dela Rosa amid ICC warrant

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is reportedly considering offering a reward for information that could lead to the arrest of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, following an active manhunt connected to an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.

DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said in an interview that while the idea of a reward system is being looked at, it may not yet be effective in the current situation.

Authorities emphasized that nationwide police operations are ongoing, with thousands of officers deployed across the Philippines' 7,000-plus islands and more than 40,000 barangays being monitored to locate the senator.Remulla appealed for patience, noting that many leads received by authorities often do not yield concrete results.

The DILG chief also urged Senator dela Rosa to surrender voluntarily, assuring that his rights would be respected and that due process would be followed. He stressed that law enforcement would treat the senator professionally as an officer and a gentleman if he turns himself in.Meanwhile, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen.Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.confirmed that authorities are actively checking all known addresses, frequent locations, and other possible hideouts, including places linked to the senator’s firearms. The PNP also revealed efforts to secure the turnover of firearms previously associated with him.The situation escalated after the ICC confirmed an arrest warrant tied to alleged killings during the government’s war on drugs.

Following heightened security incidents at the Senate earlier this month, Dela Rosa reportedly left the premises, prompting tracker teams to be deployed nationwide.Authorities continue to call for cooperation and voluntary surrender as they intensify efforts to locate him.
