The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed they will conduct a post-mortem examination on Mary Habila, a 26-year-old physiotherapist who died at the residence of Minister of Works David Umahi.Despite her family’s opposition to the autopsy, authorities insist it is necessary to determine the exact cause of death.The incident was reported on June 27 when police were called to Uburu Federal Teaching Hospital after Habila was found dead.Preliminary investigations reveal she and a colleague were part of Umahi’s medical team during a visit to his hometown.

Detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department have visited the scene, collected statements, and are preparing to engage a pathologist for the autopsy.The police emphasized that the investigation will be thorough and impartial, with updates promised as the case progresses.

Family members have refused to allow the examination, citing cultural sensitivities, but officials say their presence is required before proceedings can begin.
