DepEd outlines strict penalties for fake news and bomb threats in schools
Education Secretary Sonny Angara has called on schools nationwide to strengthen collaboration with Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) as key partners in preventing school violence.
This initiative comes amid a series of recent incidents, including a fatal shooting at a high school in Tacloban City and other violent acts across the country.
Angara emphasized that schools and families must work together to ensure student safety, highlighting the importance of early identification of learner concerns and proactive measures.The DepEd Order No.13, s.2022, provides a framework for PTAs to engage in regular discussions with parents about attendance, behavior, mental health, and digital citizenship.
Angara urged PTAs to organize parenting seminars, digital safety orientations, and community partnerships with local governments and health professionals to create safer school environments.
The education chief stressed that regular communication between parents and teachers, along with collaboration with community stakeholders, is crucial for addressing issues before they escalate.These efforts complement DepEd's ongoing initiatives to enhance campus security and psychosocial support for learners.
