The Ekiti State Government has reported a significant increase in its Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) for the month, reaching N2.7 billion without introducing new taxes.The achievement is attributed to improved tax compliance, digital administration reforms, and collaboration with key agencies.

Governor Kayode Oyebanji emphasized that the state's revenue growth stems from voluntary compliance by citizens and businesses, alongside streamlined processes that reduce bureaucratic hurdles.

The report highlights the role of EKIRS (Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service) in modernizing tax collection through technology-driven systems and data intelligence.Officials noted that some taxes, like consumption tax, are no longer collected at the state level under current legal frameworks.

The governor also addressed challenges such as vehicle number plate shortages, stating that partnerships with federal agencies like FRSC have resolved the issue temporarily.Additionally, penalties for tax defaulters were reiterated, with fines of N100,000 for the first month and N50,000 for subsequent months.

The state's focus on transparency and accountability in revenue management underscores its commitment to economic growth without imposing additional burdens on residents.
