The dialogue serves as the primary institutional platform for structured engagement between Pakistan and the European Union, focusing on strengthening cooperation in multiple sectors including political relations, economic development, security, climate change, migration, and regional stability.
According to the EU statement, both sides will review progress under the Strategic Engagement Plan, which was signed in June 2019 to deepen bilateral cooperation across key policy areas.
During her visit, Kallas is expected to hold meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. These meetings are aimed at discussing bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments of mutual concern.
In addition, she will engage with representatives from think tanks and academic institutions, reflecting the EU’s broader approach of engaging not only government stakeholders but also civil society and research communities.A joint press conference between Kallas and Ishaq Dar is also planned after the dialogue sessions conclude.
The visit comes at a time when both Pakistan and the European Union are continuing efforts to strengthen cooperation in trade, development assistance, climate resilience, and regional peace initiatives.
The Strategic Dialogue is considered the highest-level structured engagement mechanism between the two sides, enabling regular exchange of views and coordination on shared priorities.
