APM Condemns Tinubu's Adviser For Disparaging Makinde's Political Profile
Former Alliance for Democracy (AD) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Owolabi Salis, recently held strategic meetings with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to discuss Nigeria's democratic development.A New York-based lawyer and chartered accountant, Salis emphasized the need for reforms to strengthen confidence in the electoral process.
He expressed concerns over the country's slow development despite its vast potential, attributing challenges to weak democratic institutions and political practices that affect ordinary citizens.Salis highlighted issues like poverty, limited healthcare access, and infrastructure gaps in disadvantaged communities. He also mentioned providing monthly support to vulnerable Nigerians through food and medical aid.
While planning to meet President Bola Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former military leaders, Salis prefers private discussions over public debates. His comments reflect on the 2019 Lagos election experience, stressing the need for electoral transparency and public trust in democratic systems.Salis, also an astronaut who made history as the first Nigerian in space, urged responsible media and informed voters for credible polls.
