Faith Aid Kenya Expands Mustard Seed House to Support More Tenwek Hospital Patients and Caregivers

Patients and caregivers seeking specialised treatment at AGC Tenwek Hospital in Bomet County are set to benefit from expanded accommodation services after Faith Aid Kenya increased the capacity of its Mustard Seed House facility.

The Christian non-profit organisation launched the expansion through its 'Room For More Expansion' project to address the accommodation challenges faced by families travelling long distances for medical care.

Many patients undergoing specialised treatment require repeated hospital visits or extended stays, making affordable lodging an important part of their healthcare journey.

Faith Aid Kenya officials said the initiative was designed to provide safe, affordable accommodation, meals, emotional support and spiritual encouragement to patients and their caregivers.

According to co-founder Jacob Fraher, the expanded facility will help more families who often spend weeks or months near the hospital while receiving treatment.

The organisation noted that the Mustard Seed House ministry began in 2013 and has supported patients at both Tenwek Mission Hospital and Kijabe Mission Hospital.

CEO Omega Kivaji said thousands of lives have been positively impacted through the programme, with many families receiving hope, dignity and practical support during difficult periods.

During the launch event, board member and orthopaedic missionary surgeon Ryan Horazdvosky highlighted the importance of compassionate care for vulnerable patients who travel from distant regions seeking treatment.

Beneficiary Mwikali Mutuko also praised the programme after it helped cover treatment and accommodation costs for her daughter, who had a congenital heart condition.

In 2025, Faith Aid Kenya assisted more than 6,000 patients and caregivers, provided KSh 18 million in patient support and hosted guests from 12 African countries.Following the latest expansion, the facility can now accommodate up to 250 guests per night, a significant increase from its previous capacity of 48.
