A high-level Federal Government delegation led by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, alongside the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, visited Ogbomoso in Oyo State following the abduction of pupils and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area.

The visit, which took place on Saturday, May 31, 2026, was aimed at engaging community leaders and families of the victims while ongoing efforts continue to secure their release.The incident occurred on May 15, 2026, when gunmen attacked Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A.Primary School, abducting about 45 pupils and teachers.The attack has triggered widespread concern, protests, and renewed calls for improved security around schools in rural communities.During the visit, the federal delegation met with affected families and community stakeholders, assuring them that rescue operations were ongoing.

At the same time, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, also visited the community, expressing sympathy and urging residents to remain calm and united rather than engage in blame games between state and federal authorities.

He explained that security agencies were working tirelessly, including holding frequent security meetings and coordinating with local security outfits such as Amotekun to track down the abductors.The governor also noted that the state had lost some security operatives in previous operations, highlighting the dangers faced by responders.Reports indicate that one of the abducted teachers was killed days after the incident, increasing tension and grief in the community.Parents, teachers, and residents have staged peaceful protests demanding urgent government intervention and stronger protection for schools.

Authorities at both federal and state levels have continued to promise swift action, but many of the victims remain in captivity, leaving families in distress and uncertainty.
