The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully secured the final forfeiture of 48 properties linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN.

These assets include Rayhaan University campuses, hotels like Harmonia and Meethaq, luxury residences in Abuja, commercial properties in Kano, and industrial sites in Kebbi State.

The Federal High Court ruled that the properties were reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities, emphasizing that respondents failed to prove lawful sources of funds.Key assets forfeited include Rayhaan Agro Allied Factory, Azbir Arena facilities, and Zeennoor Hotel.The case followed an interim forfeiture order granted in January 2026, with Malami and associates challenging the court's jurisdiction.

The judgment underscores the legal framework for non-conviction-based asset seizures, requiring evidence of lawful acquisition rather than mere ownership claims.
